Jane Bergner’s Trifle

1 sponge cake or angel food cake (approx 4 C but enough to make 2 layers across bowl— tear in chunks)

2+ pints fresh strawberries + splenda cut up but save some whole berries for garnish or can use frzn berries with splenda and drained of juice

2 pkgs vanilla sugar free fat free Jello pudding + skim milk to make the pudding

2 C whipped cream/Kool Whip lite (1 lg or more cntrs)

2/3 C sweet cream sherry (I think less is better)

Mini chocolate chips

  1. Cover bottom of glass bowl with about 1/2 cake – use straight sided bowl

  2. Pour about ½ of the sherry over cake

  3. Top with strawberries and cover with 1 C Kool Whip

  4. Pour remaining sherry over all

  5. Cover with remaining cake

  6. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips

  7. Pour pudding over all and let set

  8. Top with remaining whipped cream/Kool Whip and garnish with whole berries

Serves 12

Can make 12-24 hrs in advance

Can add peaches, bananas, blueberries

Can double recipe, but don’t need to double pudding if you do
